Pre-treatment of blood samples reveal normal blood hypocretin/orexin signal in narcolepsy type 1

چکیده
Abstract The hypocretin/orexin system regulates arousal through central nervous mechanisms and plays an important role in sleep, wakefulness energy homeostasis. It is unclear whether hypocretin peptides are also present blood due to difficulties measuring reliable reproducible levels of the samples. Lack signalling causes sleep disorder narcolepsy type 1, low concentration cerebrospinal fluid hypocretin-1/orexin-A peptide a hallmark disease. This measurement has high diagnostic value, but performing lumbar puncture not without discomfort possible complications for patient. A blood-based test assess hypocretin-1 deficiency would therefore be obvious benefit. We here demonstrate that heating plasma or serum samples 65°C 30 min at pH 8 significantly increases immunoreactivity enabling stable Specificity signal was verified by high-performance liquid chromatography from mice lacking hypocretin. Unspecific background assay high. Using our method, we show 1 patients does differ detected control data presented suggest stream picograms per millilitres range peripheral concentrations unchanged 1.

Introduction: Cupping therapy (hejamat) is one of the therapeutic methods used in traditional medicine that it is still common in many of the contemporary societies. In spite of the progress of science, we have less information on the traditional and alternative medicine including cupping. With the study of mechanism of action of cupping, it will be more convincing for the traditional medic...
متن کاملChaotic dynamic analysis and nonlinear control of blood glucose regulation system in type 1 diabetic patients
In this paper, chaotic dynamic and nonlinear control in a glucose-insulin system in types I diabetic patients and a healthy person have been investigated. Chaotic analysis methods of the blood glucose system include Lyapunov exponent and power spectral density based on the time series derived from the clinical data. Wolf's algorithm is used to calculate the Lyapunov exponent, which positive val...
متن کاملDetection of HBV DNA in HBsAg Negative Normal Blood Donors
Background: The risk of infection by transfusion-transmitted viruses has been reduced remarkably. However, a zero-risk blood supply is still desirable. The screening for antibody to HBc (anti-HBc) has been shown as an alternative test for the detection of HBV infection. Objective: The main aim of this study was to evaluate HBV infection markers and the potential value of anti-HBc testing of blo...
